Referee Recertification
All referees, regardless of USSF grade must recertify each and every year. This is normally a 6 hour refresher
class held once a year in the Fall. This is a one day class with a exam at the end of the class.
Go to MYSA RFEREE Website. for class locations, dates and times.
This is a requirement to continue officiating in BHYSL.
Adult Referees
ATTENTION COACHES AND PARENTS: We need adult referees each year. For the fall of 2005 there were a total of
3 adult referees that took games for BHYSL. In addition only 10 of our youth officials are high school age.
That means the overwhelming majority of our officials are in middle school.
Adult referees are needed to:
Mentor youth officials in dealing with difficult situations.
Show that this is a “community” activity and not a youth sport.
If you have any questions, feel free to email BHSC/BHYSL Referee Assignor Tony Roberts.

Below are the league rules for playing under bad weather:
- Check the BHYSL website for any announcement.
- Rain is not considered grounds for a game to be stopped, unless the field becomes unplayable.
- If the weather makes the field unplayable, the referee will stop the game. If the referee does not, the Coach should request that the referee do so.
- If both coaches want to stop the game, they should request that the referee stop the game.
- Coaches, referees, players and everyone else should immediately leave the field and seek shelter if there is lightning or thunder.
- In case of Lightning OR Thunder, the referee will stop the game. If the referee does not, the coach should that the referee do so. The referee is required to wait 15 minutes after the last time thunder is heard or lightning is seen before resuming the game.
- NO ONE SHOULD EVER STAND UNDER TREES IN THE EVENT OF LIGHTNING OR THUNDER.
- The coaches DO NOT decide if it is OK to resume the game. The referee has the authority to make that decision.
- If the delay will extend into the next scheduled game, the referee will end that game. For example, thunder is heard with 10 minutes left in a game. The game should be stopped, with the game then considered completed.

Items and personal belongings that are left at the field may be found in the Lost & Found bin at the soccer office.
Please call the BHYSL Soccer office at (248) 499-7580 for inquiry. If you find any valuable item at the field, please turn in
at the BHYSL office.
The league continues to collect used soccer items such as used soccer shoes, cleats, jerseys and shorts.
The items do not need to be full uniforms, just things that kids have out grown. The league donates these items to
local teams in Pontiac and Detroit. If you have items you wish to donate, please take it the BHYSL office.
Coaches wish to handout trophies for their players at the end of the season may do so at their own or team expense.
There are many vendors available on the internet. One vendor, however, QuickTrophy, reimburses the league for 15% of all
purchases made by BHYSL teams. 100% of the money received from QuickTrophy is put into the league's operations. If prompted
for an affiliate id, please use 37.
